Shirin Neshat

I think its really interesting that Neshat talks about treating culture as entertainment, and how the image that is created of Iranian women is weak, suppressed, and thats how the western world views them.

Shaun Camp has said that one of our peices of work reminded him strongly of a still from Shirin Neshat’s ‘Rapture’. Our image below, when shown in the blind crit, instantly sparked ideas of religion, burkhas, covering and mysterious identities.

I think this highlights the fact that we need to move our work forward with Alicja to include a constructed garment that will bring with it its own identity.
