“Ever since I can remember I have always been interested in arts, design and drawing in particular. My passion for clothes was very much influenced by mother who, bored with the High Street “greyness”, self-taught pattern making and sewing. The sound of her old machine’s motor constantly woke me up when I was a child however it also inspired me to start designing myself.
I believe that clothes, like any other form of art, send “a secret message”. Each design, each finished garment is an expression of one’s personality, stage of life and experiences. For me fashion is not just clothes and pretty accessories, it is a reflection of our surroundings, current events and how we perceive the world and people we meet.
I see fashion design as a form of, sometimes even therapeutic art that allows designers to express themselves intellectually and emotionally.
Trends are being set by individuals, societies and cultures all over the world, protecting their significance and importance. It is designers’ responsibility of thorough analysis which eventually becomes a personalised interpretation of current times and a collection.
The collaboration between Vaida, Amy and myself began from their initiative. The aim was to create movement through the use of delicate yet “rich” fabrics, garments using Vaida’s and Amy’s photographic expertise and talent. I hope I helped them to achieve the results they imagined. It has been a pleasure to work with both of them.
