Test Shoot 4 // Cinemagraph

After realizing that video wasn’t the path we wanted to follow we found a way to integrate video with GIFs. Instead of taking sequential images with a DSLR at 3 frames a second and combining them in Photoshop to make a GIF, you can render out each frame of video footage as a TIFF file and take that into Photoshop and create a higher quality GIF with much more flexibility.

We felt that this was our most successful cinemagraph from the test shoot, it leaves room for the audience to interpret the image and takes the viewer somewhere else. As talked about in our blind crit (next post), it talks about ideas such as religious coverings, women and religion, it also asks questions like who is she, why is she there? We are not trying to talk about religious issues, and we feel that the reason this keeps coming up is because we are using simple pieces of fabric that have little or no structure that drape in a similar way to clothing such as the burka. At this point in the unit we really want to start using designed, structured garments to push the work forward.
